The Triumph Rocket 3 has been in production since 2004. The motorbike gets its name from the BSA 750cc pushrod triple. The Triumph Rocket 3 has three cylinders that power up this mighty machine. The largest displacement of 2294cc (2004) has been fitted to a production motorcycle. This motorbike was developed to take on the American market and designed for America's long highways. Harley Davidson, with their big cruisers and Honda Goldwing being the leading competitors stateside.

Various models of the Rocket 3 have been introduced over the years and the original Rocket 3 was introduced to the market in 2004. The Rocket has won several awards over its first years of production for living up to its namesake and being the best cruiser. In 2006, The Rocket 3 ‘Classic’ was introduced. With a newly redesigned exhaust system, different shaped handlebars, a more comfortable pillion seat were developed, and rider floorboards added to the machine.

The year 2007 introduced the Triumph Rocket 3 Tourer. With touring in mind, Triumph added panniers, a windshield, and a luggage rack to the previous classic model. The rocket 3 Roadster was next to be produced back in 2010. It was named by Triumph as "the ultimate muscle streetfighter". It produced 109kw/146.1BHP of power. The exhaust system redesigned and split from the three into one configuration and now having a three into two exhaust systems with the silencers on either side of the bike.

Starting at £20700, you could own one of the limited Rocket 3 GT. For £21700, the Rocket 3 Triple Black could be yours, with only 1000 available worldwide. "The ultimate muscle Roadster" - the new edition uses three distinctive shades of black paint.

The model comprises of blacked-out components, three into one headers with three exit silencers. Specs include a 3-cylinder 2458 cc engine that now produces 165bhp. It has ride by wire fuel injection, shaft drive and a 6-speed gearbox. It also has Showa front forks and Showa rear shocks. Brembo disc brakes all round. It has a dry weight of 294kg that is a whopping 40 kilograms lighter than previous versions. The motorbike has an overall length of 1677 mm. The Rocket 3 meets Euro 5 standards for emissions and the fuel range is approximately 150 miles from its 18-litre fuel tank. The Electronics of the bike include a new look TFT screen that has a multifunctional instrument pack with a digital speedometer, along with the trip computer, gear position indicator and fuel gauge, all on display. The rider has control over the rider modes where they can select between rain/ road/ sport/ rider configurable. For an extra cost, you can have a Bluetooth module that will enable you to connect to your Smartphone.

Triumphs Rocket 3 R is available from £20300. The Rocket 3 R Black starts at £21000 and limits to just 1000 units worldwide. All the motorbikes in this range are very similar. The GT versions have a backrest for the pillion rider and a screen for the rider and are more designed for touring use. The Rocket 3 R is more for your everyday ride outs with its more aggressive riding position. The black editions have everything blacked out with the three-tone paint jobs. From exhausts, clutch and brake levers, steering yokes, and even the name badges are black.
