We Want Your Kawasaki Ninja

The Kawasaki Ninja 250 is also know as the EX250. This is a twin-cylinder sportbike 249cc that produced a whopping 32bhp. With its six-speed gearbox, chain-driven and having a traditional wet multiple disk clutch that has been around since 1986. This entry-level sports bike has gone through several versions over the last 25 years. The Ninja 250R has a rev limit of 14000 rpm but was known to be slow to rev.

The Ninja is back in 2021 under a new guise, the ZX-25R. Kawasaki have uprated the looks, power and handling. The machine is now capped at 47bhp, which is a huge leap over the old bike. The 250 is now powerful, fun and cheap to run. This all sounds great, however, there is a problem. Kawasaki have not officially announced yet that the ZX-25R will be coming to the UK.

Ninja 250 History

1988 The model upgrades were more focused on styling and engine tuning. The main bulk of the engine was unchanged. The engine modification included a larger rear sprocket; the compression ratio was increased, the carburation altered and the ignition timing changed, allowing the top revs to be obtained quicker. The bodywork was similar to its bigger brother, the Ninja 750, and was very similar in looks.

2008 The model's design was altered entirely, bringing it into the 20th-century sportbike. Wheels size increased, fuel gauge added and engine mods gave a better power ratio at low to mid-range. The bike became smoother and more comfortable to ride. This model was a big success in the American market, the 250R added to the American collection. In Europe and the UK, the bike was suitable for the learner drivers, they were able to get their hands on the 250R as it only produced 33bhp and the emissions were compliant with the European standard for that time. The new fuel injection system allowed the emissions to be met by the EU by fine tuning making the fuel leaner reducing the hydrocarbons emissions.
