We Want Your Ducati Scrambler

The Ducati Scrambler is an 803cc v twin driven motorcycle designed in 2014 and introduced to the UK in 2015. A low seat height at 790mm made it a comfortable ride for most bikers. The Ducati’s engines and frames are still made in Italy, in the Borgo Panigale factory and then assembled in Thailand.

Six versions of the Scrambler exist, including the Sixty-two, Icon, Classic, Full throttle, Desert Sled and The Café racer.

With a speed of 0-60 mph, recorded at 3.5 seconds - The Ducati Scrambler 800 has a top speed of 130 mph, all for 75bhp. As with most Ducati’s, servicing this premium Italian bike is not the cheapest. The average cost around £260 per year but always worth every penny on any motorcycle.

Many quality brands fixed to the motorcycle, the Ducati Scrambler 800, such as Brembo for the braking system, Pirelli tyres and the shocks and forks are produced by Kayaba. The Scrambler will do 52mpg and has a tank range of 154 miles. It weighs just 170 kg, and its low ride makes it easy to handle. The Ducati’s new price a little under £7,000. This bike - with its good looks, maintains a great resale value.

The Scramblers Rivals

The bikes main rivals are Triumph with its Street Triple Scrambler 900, Yamahas SCR950 and the Fantic Caballero 500 Rally. The Scrambler is powered by a V twin air-cooled engine, 802cc and was derived from the 796 Ducati Monster engine. It has redesigned parts from the Monster making its own stamp on the brand, including a new exhaust system, redesigned air filter box and better injection system.

The Ducati Scrambler is relatively easy to ride as it is small and lightweight. Plenty of power is available when you need it, and the broader handlebars allow the rider to throw it around when the need arises.

When it comes to value, there is no cheap new Ducati’s - you get what you pay for. The standard models are priced similar to their competitors, but you can pile on the pounds with some of the extras that are available. The Scrambler has been produced with fewer gadgets on it to reduce the overall weight of the machine. As with all Ducati’s, if you spend the money on maintenance, it shouldn’t let you down.
